The shop that walks to your door
CampusMart is a campus convenience store. We keep the everyday things students actually run out of — airtime-priced snacks, chargers, buckets, notebooks, kettles — and we bring them to your hostel instead of making you walk to town for them.
How we started
It began the way most campus businesses do: a room, a WhatsApp group and a very long list of things people kept asking for at 11pm. Someone always needed a phone charger, a bucket, a fresh exercise book before an 8am quiz, or just Milo and bread. The nearest place that stocked all of it was a trotro ride away, and it closed before lectures did.
So we bought the fast-moving items in bulk, put them on a shelf on campus, and started running them across to whoever ordered. The list of items grew. The list of hostels grew. Eventually the WhatsApp group could not keep up with the orders, and this shop is what replaced it.
What we actually do
We stock 25 lines across 7 categories and we restock the fast movers weekly. Everything is bought from established suppliers and wholesalers — no grey-market phone accessories that die in a week, no expired stock pushed to the front of the shelf. If something we sell you fails within its first 48 hours, we swap it.
Orders placed during opening hours are picked immediately. A rider takes the on-campus runs on foot or by bike; off-campus areas are batched so the fee stays low. You can also just come to the counter and collect — pickup is always free.
Who is behind it
A small team: two people on the counter and stock, and a couple of riders during the evening rush. That is deliberate. It means when you call 0244000111 you get a person who can actually see your order on the screen, not a call centre. It also means we are honest about capacity — if the queue is long during exam week, we will tell you rather than promise a time we cannot hit.
